Overview: Do you feel trapped by repetitive thoughts, behaviors, and emotions? Do you wish to take your brain and your life to the next level where clear thoughts and a free will are your primary modes of existing? If that’s the case, or you simply enjoy the process of training and sharpening the mind in order to reach a more fulfilling and intentional life, Joe Dispenza’s Evolve Your Brain is for you.
"Joe Dispenza, D.C., has spent decades studying the human mind---how it works, how it stores information, and why it perpetuates the same behavioral patterns over and over. In the acclaimed film What the Bleep Do We Know!? he began to explain how the brain evolves---by learning new skills, developing the ability to concentrate in the midst of chaos, and even healing the body and the psyche.
Evolve Your Brain presents this information in depth, while helping you take control of your mind, explaining how thoughts can create chemical reactions that keep you addicted to patterns and feelings----including ones that make you unhappy. And when you do know how these bad habits are created, it's possible not to only break these patters, but also reprogram and evolve your brain, so that new, positive, and beneficial habits can take over."[1]
This book does an excellent job of integrating neuroscience with awareness and perception, as well as incorporating ideas about the greater force that keeps our universe in motion.
Understanding how to change one’s mind first comes from knowledge. From knowledge, we are able to utilize mental rehearsal to integrate new patterns into our brain and body chemistry. After that, we take our newly evolved brain out into the world for real-life practice.
By projecting our “new” self into the future, we are better able to adapt to the situations that confront us in daily existence and will better prepare us to not “react,” but rather, be proactive in maintaining states of calm, mindfulness, and understanding. Knowledge, rehearsal, and practice reinforce one another leading to a state of being that is defined by greater clarity, drive, peace, and the ability to manifest one’s vision.
Memorable Quotes:
“We must deliver ourselves with the help of our minds...for one who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for the one who has failed to do so, the mind will remain the greatest enemy. -Bhagavad-Gita-”
“Motivated as they were by serious illness both physical and mental, the people I interviewed realized that in thinking new thoughts, they had to go all the way. To become a changed person, they would have to rethink themselves into a new life. All of those who restored their health to normal did so after making a conscious decision to reinvent themselves.”
“In effect, they became a no-body, a no-thing, in no-time. They left their present association with being a somebody, the “you,” or “self,” and they became a nobody.
In this state, as I was to learn, these individuals could begin to become exactly what they were imagining. [...] truly focused and concentrating, the brain circuits associated with time, space, and the feelings/movements/sensory perceptions of the body literally quiet down. [...] Mastering this skill is what allows us to begin to rewire our brain and change our life.”
Strengths: This book discusses neuroscience in a way that is approachable to someone without any background in the topic. It is extremely thorough in the information given, and reinforces previous learning throughout the book. It has a lot of information that will help motivate you to Evolve Your Brain!

Further Discussion: Nearly 500 pages, this is not a light read. Although it is scientific, Evolve Your Brain is no textbook and falls under the “Pop Science” genre. Some claims made throughout deserve skepticism and for the reader to draw their own conclusions. There are several studies cited in which animals were abused/tortured in various ways, which may not bother some, but certainly makes us sad at LGP.
The Bottom Line: Get this book if you want to supercharge your brain! The time is now! You have the power to reinvent yourself to being anything and anyone you like. It is never too late. The information from this book will help you develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills that will make it possible. You have the power! Evolve Your Brain today!!!
We strongly recommend Evolve Your Brain as a powerful and life-changing book to read.
